Hatha Yoga is a traditional form of yoga with an amalgamation of most yoga styles. It embraces various yoga postures called ‘asanas’ with a combination of breathing techniques called ‘pranayama’. It prepares the body to relax and calms the mind. Each pose in this style of yoga is held for several breaths. The transition from one pose to the other blends into the flow, synchronising breath with movement. With stretch and alignment of your body, your balance and flexibility improve. This helps in keeping your heart healthy and improves blood flow. The word ‘Hatha’ is derived from a Sanskrit word, which denotes ‘force’.
